Big Milestones for the Croft
Today was a significant day for us at the croft, as we finally received our main location code! This code, known as a MLC, is more than just a number; it’s a gateway to numerous opportunities for our budding venture. With this location code, we can now purchase livestock and even apply for grant funding. It feels like we've taken a huge leap forward on our journey to make the croft functional again.
Implementing New Ideas
Being a crofter is no small feat, but it's also incredibly rewarding. As we look forward to the future, we’re not just stopping at livestock. We’re also diving into another exciting project—beekeeping! Although we intend to start small, the idea of producing our own honey is thrilling. Just imagine the joy of tasting that sweet nectar straight from our bees. Early on, we plan to have just a few hives, but our hope is to expand this venture as we learn and grow.
Embracing the Crofting Lifestyle
Every day spent at the croft teaches us something new. We are constantly discovering the joys of working with the land and animals. The rhythm of nature gives us peace and a purposeful focus. What’s more, being a part of this community validates our efforts to live a more sustainable lifestyle. As we embrace this path, we’re excited not only about the prospects of livestock and honey but also about the connections we'll forge with other local crofters, sharing tips and support along the way.
It’s daunting sometimes, considering all we have to learn. Still, there's a sense of fulfillment that comes from working hard for what you believe in. Our MLC is just the first step in a long journey, but every step forward fuels our passion. So here's to many more milestones as we navigate the ups and downs of crofting. Loving every moment of it!
